Chaff

Chaff refers to the dry, husky outer covering of grains like wheat, rice, barley, or oats that is separated during threshing. It is the inedible, lightweight part that is often considered agricultural waste, though it has practical uses in farming. Traditionally, chaff is separated from the grain using a process called winnowing. While it lacks nutritional value for humans, chaff is sometimes used as animal bedding, compost material, or even as fodder when mixed with other feed.
